Made it through the last legs of our trip last night. It's 9am here, which I think means it's 9pm there on Monday. We went through customs and security in Japan, then had our last six hour flight. I was a bit queasy on that one since we hit a huge storm coming into Bangkok. Made it through okay though!
Had to haggle with the taxi driver
"100 baht."
"100 baht? Nooo, not this time of night. 300 baht."
"300 baht? No, no, they said 100 baht."
"Okay, 200 baht, 200 baht."
"What? No. 150 baht."
"200 baht."
"150."
At this point, Stacey started walking away, saying "let's go, we'll just find somewhere else." After me arguing with her and the driver arguing with the taxi stand guy, we agreed on 160, which I know was more than we needed to pay, but it was 1am and we were tired.
If you're curious, 30 baht is about a dollar, so we paid about five dollars for a ten minute taxi ride, which wasn't bad by American standards.
Now we've just woken up, ate our breakfasts provided by the guesthouse (toast, fried egg, and hot dog), and are getting ready to roll out for the day. Our room is very simple--teak wood walls, two mattresses on the floor, and the most important accessory, the air conditioner! It is so hot and humid here, we would probably have trouble sleeping without it.
Will take pictures below:0
